Ruby Bowd (L5)BA (Hons) Textile Design
I’m inspired by nature and geometry, using the shapes and colours I find within them to create patterns for printed textiles and surface manipulation.
I start with photography and drawing before exploring design ideas further, using software such as Adobe Photoshop; I really enjoy experimenting with different techniques and have seen my skills grow in this area through my second year. I also enjoy creating samples on the knitting machines, focusing on the different techniques I’ve learnt this year to combine stitch and texture in new and unusual ways.
In the future I plan on having my own independent small business where I am able to sell my own designs. I am also interested in working large scale and perhaps creating art pieces on a commission basis.
