A series of illustrations made for a children’s picture book – Rosie Revere Engineer by Andrea Beaty. The book is an attempt to redress the perception that science is not for girls. Rosie is determined and fun loving and my characterisation is an attempt to appeal to a whole range of aspiring female scientists and engineers.

I am inspired by nature, music and general daily life and this forms the basis of my coloured pencil drawings and large-scale paintings. I also love printmaking and I especially enjoy working with Lino. I hope to use these media to tackle a range of illustration projects over the next two years. I feel I have only touched the surface of my creativity this year and I’m excited to see where it guides me through into next year.
