I believe that the body is a powerful tool  of communication and as such the way we dress and alter our image can be too. My work uses a range of mixed media to explore body image and the effects our society has on ours. The key themes that I focus on are the ideas of protection, camouflage, ageing and deterioration. I have often designed pieces that can be worn to change and distort the body to project different meanings.

I’ve been focusing my MA on exploring the female form and using textures and structure found in nature to depict protection, ageing and erosion. Although I primarily work in textiles I love to combine other materials into the wearable pieces I create. I have been exploring using metal and jesmonite with the traditional garment making techniques.
