Disposable Moments

Fascinated by the traditional understanding of techniques and processes that are required to produce a piece of classical fine art. What may begin as a simple photograph is suddenly elevated by the intervention of an artist’s hand. Great care and time have been taken in order to produce a work of hyperrealism which assigns a large degree of value to a once throw away image.

The combination of classic artist techniques alongside the use of more modern lens-based media results in work of fascinatingly high detail that lends itself to showcasing the beauty and importance of the moments that were perhaps once considered benign.

Using a disposable camera photograph as a starting point contributes to the nostalgic feel of the final drawings, further enhanced by the digital manipulation often associated with older technologies.
