Felicity Yakubu (L6)BA (Hons) Textile Design

Through my work I would like to express individualism and identity through the textiles I make, proving we all have something about us that makes us stand out.  I am creatively driven by visually pleasing images as well as characters with interesting personalities.

My process will often begin with threads and yarns, building my design row by row through crochet and knit.  As these develop through the process of making, I begin to develop and add ideas for embroidery and beadwork.

Presented are some samples I have created for my Final Major Project titled Alluring Accessories.  Using knit and crochet techniques with Acrylic and Mercerised Cotton yarns, these samples act as a base layer that in time, will be added to with colour, beadwork and embellishments.  Each collar will be a visual expression of characteristics linked to that of a Siren or Coquette.
