Being a mechanic since I left school; I like to fix things but have always felt there’s more life than just fixing broken stuff. A way to express yourself with the things no one else wants; the thrown away and forgotten; the freedom and voice it can give you.
The inspiration for this work was a conversation with a vet about how a healthy animal will stretch as it wakes up and a happy memory of watching someone wake up: the actual start point for this work a sketch whilst talking to a friend. After a few more drawings; a happy point to start making. I made a few models out of paper and metal; I’d like this to be a largescale sculpture.
As for the future and aspirations? The world’s your oyster, right?
