When we imagined the Herefordanvils 2020 academic year, we didn’t conceive of the extraordinary and frightening reality of COVID-19; our world turned upside down by a global pandemic.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the whole cohort of Artist Blacksmithing students who have stayed grounded, productive, and connected to their work during this unprecedented time as we have all scrambled to recalibrate our lives to work online whilst desperately missing our peers, design studio’s, making spaces and of course the forge.

This online showcase is testimony to their brave resilience, every day they have managed the stress and uncertainty of the new reality, yet have still been able to focus, concentrate, and complete academic tasks, research and design. We are proud of what they have all achieved; they are the next generation of forge metal designers.
