The future of materials is uncertain, the long-term use of artificial dyes is unsustainable and the need for sustainable alternatives is at an all-time high.
With consideration towards naturally-formed dyes attained through various fruits, I am able to create a biodegradable alternative to plastic with a vinyl-like material formed from a vegetable-gelatin compound.
A series of durability tests are currently taking place to measure the tactility and performance of my material. These will ultimately showcase the potential the material has to be used as a fashion “fabric”.
In the long-term, my aim is to works towards a fashion product which has zero impact on the environment and can effectively combat the huge waste issue created by the fast-fashion movement.
