Independence and freedom of expression is key to the learning at Hereford College of Arts (HCA), based in a beautiful county with some excellent success stories.
HCA is an independent arts school surrounded by people who are passionate about the arts, media and performance. Our staff, many of whom are practising artists, are focussed on the delivery of excellent creative education to students expanding learning and hands-on experience. On our campuses we have fully equipped workshop spaces to get the opportunity to gain new creative knowledge and skills.
The ethos of the college is to work one-on-one, gaining the best for individuals and to support the creative journey. With its wonderful arts and crafts architecture College Road Campus was founded in the Victorian era during the boom in arts education, which provides a fantastic backdrop for inspired learning.
Hereford as a City is a great place to study, live, play and work. It is a great City for expression with work as well as shopping in creative businesses and independent café and shops. The county as a whole boasts clean living and space to think with its beautiful surroundings of mountains and rivers.
MORE THAN LEARNING
A range of visiting lecturers come to the college every year as a fantastic insight into the industry and different routes of creativity. Some of these national or international speakers have a wealth of knowledge which adds to the depth of learning. These talks are open college wide for all to listen to as creative industries work across disciplines.
HCA are committed to continuing the connection with graduates with a scheme called Launchgrad. This is an 18 month programme of support for new graduates, designed with the alumni, including access to the workshops, online resources, networking opportunities, info on grants and creative opportunities.
Many students have gone to go on to work for big name brands, as well as starting up their own enterprise with a successful turnover of regular clients and commissions.
There will be brand new accommodation built within walking distance of the college campuses, which will open in 2020. The building will be unique with space for creativity inside and outside on the exterior walls and within a purpose built gallery space.
