Biography

Lydia is a fight director and actress based in London. She trained at East 15 with their BA Acting & Stage Combat degree. As well as running her own stage combat workshops, she also assists frequently with BADC workshops in drama schools and universities.

Her approach to teaching stage combat starts with the story and character. Lydia’s methods always come from a state of play and through that, finding trust with those you’re working with. Stage combat requires you to tell the story without dialogue, so Lydia also places focus on gaining confidence in your physicality- through breath exercises, status shifting and partner work.

She has directed violence across both stage and screen, and worked on projects that have won awards both nationally and internationally. As an actress she has worked mainly on screen; she recently won Best Actress at the ‘Feel the Reel International Film Festival’ for one of her films, and has been nominated for the same accolade at many other festivals.

Lydia grew up in Herefordshire, and has close connections to the area.
