Welcome back to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design & Communication
Course Information
The projects we will be exploring will be varied and ambitious. It is likely that you will be developing upon skillsets that you have built previously in the first year, but importantly that you keep an open mind and keep explore new opportunities in workshops. You will also be deciding whether university is right for you and we will guide you through this process every step of the way– just bring an open mind, enthusiasm and a will to work hard and you will be creating some fantastic professional standard work in no time at all.
Throughout the year you will have the opportunity to go on industry related trips and enjoy visits from industry professionals. Bookings for these will be made in advance and it will be necessary for you to provide payment and completed consent forms at enrolment, before being allowed on any trip. Details for all trips and visits will be advised, where possible, two weeks in advance.

Please note – the items marked by an asterisk (*) are available from the college shop, which is located in Reception at the Folly Lane campus. Opening hours during term time are:
Monday – Thursday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
Friday: 8.30am – 4pm

Course Structure
Unit 4: Researching a Specialist Industry Practice
Unit 5: Specialist Technical Skills Development
Unit 6: Specialist Creative Outcome
Please note – students will be reviewed in the first six weeks of each year to assess their academic progress.
Students aged 16-18 who have not achieved grade 4/C or above in GCSE English Language or English Literature and/or Maths will be required to study either GCSE or Functional Skills at an appropriate level as part of their course.
Higher Education or Employment
The level 3 extended diploma lays the groundwork for you to progress on to employment in the creative industries or to higher education courses in a huge range of subjects including HCA's very own degrees.
