Emma Willis

2026 Degree Show - brand design by Dan Harris

BA(Hons) Contemporary Design Crafts

About the designer:

Emma Willis is a concept driven, material led designer-maker working primarily with ceramics. This body of work presents a series of sculptural forms that invite open curiosity and conversation. Hand-built in porcelain and black stoneware, these evocative forms are an exploration of personal and recent lived experience.

Material memory is central. Clay is manipulated, held under tension, yet retains traces of its own resistance. This exchange between control and autonomy becomes a way of articulating experiences that are difficult to navigate or express.

A quiet transition unfolds—from disarray and containment towards unfurling forms becoming lighter, lifted; suggesting the possibility of release or flight.
