Hereford Cathedral
A curated exhibition of Contemporary Craft, Jewellery, Textiles and Artist Blacksmithing in response to Hereford Cathedral. Open to the public throughout February.
What you see on the plinth is the culmination of a project’s worth of critical thinking, exploration, risk taking and growth. I am so proud of the way that each year students tackle this live brief with consideration and passion. The transformation that I witness during this module is a genuine privilege and I am so proud of all the students behind the work shown.

Yes it is free to visit the Cathedral and view the exhibition in the Crypt.
There are some other attractions at the Cathedral which require an entry fee - for example the Mappa Mundi - please refer to the Hereford Cathedral website for any information.
The work on show comes from BA(hons) degree students from across four courses within HCA's School of Materials and Design:
You can view a full list of the degree courses on offer at HCA using the link below.
Half the exhibit is downstairs in the Crypt with no alternative for those with accessibility requirements, however the top level is wheelchair and pram friendly.
Pay and display parking is available close to the Cathedral but would require a short walk.
Exhibiting at the Cathedral feels like completing the circle, taking the work back to its origins. It is a very special environment. Exploring how to display individual items, as well as the whole curation in a specific environment gives further depth to the learning process!
Katy Jones, BA(hons) Contemporary Design Crafts
I found the whole exhibition very exciting. From the first look around the Cathedral, to the exhibition day all the staff were incredibly supportive and enthusiastic about my design. They also pushed me where ever possible to expand my skill set. I feel so lucky to have been able to take part in this beautiful and meaningful event.
Helen Ackerman, BA(hons) Artist Blacksmithing
The exhibition officially opened with a busy Private View at the cathedral, bringing together students, staff and cultural stakeholders. You can check out photos from the event using the link below.
