Biography

Gareth is a Sound Designer, Composer and Theatre Manager working with Performing and Production Arts and Music Performance and Production. His theatrical work has been heard throughout Wales, London and beyond, and he is keen to inspire a new generation of theatre creatives in his role at HCA.

A graduate of The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Gareth specialised in Stage Management and Technical Theatre, working extensively in professional theatre before he had even completed his studies. Since then, he has designed sound and composed for numerous shows across the UK and internationally, with a focus on new writing. He has also served as Head of Sound on numerous productions, including two years at Cardiff New Theatre Panto and three years at Cardiff Open-Air Theatre Festival.

Alongside his professional career, Gareth is dedicated to education and is keen to nurture new talent in Stage Management and Technical Theatre. His aim is to provide pathways into this exciting industry, combining teaching with ongoing freelance work to ensure that students benefit from up-to-date knowledge of current industry practices and processes.

In addition to his theatrical work, Gareth is one of less than fifty players worldwide of the Welsh Triple Harp and a specialist in the Welsh and Welsh Romany oral music traditions. His performances have gained multiple awards and taken him to national and international stages ranging from the National Eisteddfod to Festival Interceltique de Lorient.

In 2019, he was named Cwlwm Celtaidd’s Young Musician of the Year and has had his playing featured on BBC Programmes.
