Please complete the special requirements form prior to enrolment. Tap below and you can complete the form online. It should only take around xxx mins.
Complete the online form hereAs part of Level 5 you will be undertaking a Professional Practice module. One of the assessable components of this module is actual work experience.
This includes the opportunity for you to organise and undertake appropriate career investigations such as work placement with makers, artists, designers, galleries, curating, exhibiting practice, working with community arts groups, running workshops, gallery & arts administration, teaching situations or industry.
In preparation of this module, you can begin to think about what you might do and even undertake some experience. Using the summer will give you more time to explore your options and make connections with people. The more notice you can give to those you wish to work with the more likely a placement is to be successful.
Consider the direction your work has taken over the last year and its potential for future development. Use this to inform the type of placement you may wish to undertake.
If you are unsure where to go and what to do don’t worry, we can help you when you return in September. However, we cannot organise placements for you - you are ultimately responsible for organising this professional practice for yourself.
Think locally, nationally and even internationally if your personal funding allows.
We would like you to take time over the summer to continue to build on the work you started as part of the ‘Identity’ brief. Gather imagery, objects, and texts that support the refinement of who you are as a designer maker.
These images/objects/words can be photographs you have taken, objects that you possess, images of work by other artists and makers, found objects, magazines articles, drawings you gather, books you have read, quotes from podcasts you have listened to, etc…
You may find these images in books, on the internet, in journals, from own photos, from visiting exhibitions, galleries or landmarks. Be inquisitive across a wide range of subject matter. Be selective and consider the type of work you want to make and maker you want to be.
When you return in September bring all of your findings with you to populate your spaces and be ready to discuss them with the group. This will hopefully set you up for the start of Level 6 and help you to gain clarity on what interests and excites you creatively. It will also help you to write your proposals for Practice 5 so you are able to hit the ground running for your final year.
