Explore our professional digital suites

Media Suite

This professional suite gives you the opportunity to explore moving image using multi-platforms and devices and create moving images for film, animation, cinemographs and immersive experiences.  You will access industry standard software including: Adobe Premiere, Animate, Final Cut, Tag Tool, Madmapper and a range of programmes that support computer games design and interactive media. You will also discover new software for moving image creation and virtual reality.

Digital editing Computer Suite

This well-equipped suite with a range of machines together with flatbed scanners and Wacom drawing tablets will fully support you to develop digital drawing and image manipulation skills.  Using the latest software in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Lightroom, you create new designs and images for print and screen .

General IT Resources

  • IT Suites with specialist software available on Apple Mac and PCs.
  • Open access areas.
  • Quiet study areas in Library spaces with Assistive Technology.
  • Exhibition quality large format inkjet printers.
  • Sound & video production areas.
  • Animation facilities.
  • Virtual Learning Environment.
  • Free access to Microsoft Office 365 for up to five devices with 1TB of cloud storage.

  • Location recording equipment (including track, dolly etc).

Library

HCA Library aims to support all students and staff by providing a high quality information service. Resources include over 25,000 books and over 80 specialist journals, a collection of DVDs and more. The library also contains computers, a wireless network, photocopiers and printing facilities. Visit us for help with finding information, to access a PC or to find a quiet place to study.

HCA Library is situated across two sites; the Folly Lane Campus and the College Road Campus. Both spaces offer a dedicated arts library service designed to meet the specific needs of arts students.

Folly Lane Library

The Folly Lane Campus Library is located next to the I.T. Suite and also contains a shop space which sells a range of art materials. The library covers all aspects of art, design, media and performing arts. It is staffed by specialist arts librarians who offer a friendly and helpful service. As well as books and journals the library contains newspapers, DVDs and the FE careers library.

College Road Library

The College Road Campus Library is located above the Main Hall and offers access to a wide range of BA and MA course related information and resources. Arts librarians are available to provide guidance and support. The library contains books, the latest journals, DVDs, a range of art supplies for sale and the HE careers library. In the Quiet Study Room we have individual study space, computers and a collection of thousands of journals.

Associate Membership Scheme

HCA Associate Membership is for anyone who would like to access the library and other college facilities. Further details of the benefits and application process can be found here.
