MAKE YOUR MARK ON THE WORLD

We currently have availability on all our creative courses. If you’re ready to apply, scroll down and begin making an application.

Every summer our teams handle a high number of summer applications. We are experienced and can help you feel confident that everything is in place before you start in September.

DIRECT APPLY

– Current HCA students

– Mature students (aged 21+)

If you are an HCA student finishing a Post-16, Foundation or Portfolio course – or you are aged 21 or above –  you can apply direct to HCA. This is a slightly quicker process, and we will take care of most of the paperwork and application fee for you.

The Direct Apply option is only available if you are not also applying to other institutions at the same time. However all HCA students qualify for a £500 progression bursary to support your studies (contact registry@hca.ac.uk for more info).

APPLY VIA UCAS

– Changed your mind?

– Applying to multiple institutions

– Aged 17-20 and not a current HCA student

You can apply to HCA at any point through the UCAS site.

Applying via UCAS is a straightforward process, but we are happy to guide you through it if you need support. Our Registry team can advise you how to submit an application, what to include in your Personal Statement and what happens once you have applied.

If you are applying to multiple institutions this summer applying via UCAS is you best option. It is also the main way that applicants who are under-21  and who don’t study at HCA get started.

ALSO:

Many people apply to a uni in January, but have a change of heart. If you feel like HCA would be a better match for you, you can simply decline your current offer by logging into your UCAS account, and apply to HCA via UCAS.

If you need any help doing this, or want to make sure there are still places available on your preferred course, email registry@hca.ac.uk.

CLEARING

You may have heard of Clearing. This is also happens through the UCAS website from July 5.

You can apply through Clearing if:

  • you’re applying after 30 June
  • you didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
  • you didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
  • you’ve declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in your application

The process is very similar to applying via UCAS. You can read more on their website here.

Apply via UCAS

To apply through UCAS you’ll need our institution code H18 and the relevant course code – which is available on each course page. Click the link here, to visit the UCAS page, login in and follow the application process.

The initial UCAS deadline for applications was in January, however you can still apply to study on a degree course at HCA all the way up until September 2024. We run personal tours for prospective students throughout  Summer – contact outreach@hca.ac.uk if you want to find out more.

Apply to HCA direct.

If you want to Apply Direct, you can start today. Simply download our application form here.

If you are not sure whether you qualify for Direct Apply, you can check if you are eligible by emailing registry@hca.ac.uk

Step one.

What happens next…?

Once we have received your application, you will be invited to attend an interview or an online interview.

This is a great opportunity to talk about your interests with the course leader, and get a feel for the course.

Please note for our art, design and media courses, you may be asked to bring along a portfolio of work with you to interview. We are looking for your passion and potential, and the portfolio is just a jumping-off point to talk about you.

For Performing Arts and Popular music you will have an audition and an interview.

Step two

Track your application

Once your application is in, you can sit back and wait.

Whether you applied via UCAS, or applied to HCA directly we will be in touch to confirm you next steps depending where you are in the process.

We will be in touch to may be an interview, and if that goes well – to confirm an official offer.

If you applied via UCAS you will also be able to track progress on their website.

Step three

Accepting your offer

You’ve had an incredible interview, you absolutely love HCA, the campus, the town, the workshops and the course. Now what…?

If you applied via UCAS, you can accept your offer by logging in to their website. If you applied directly to HCA, you can just let us know by emailing our Registry team.

Creativity is for everyone A community to make your own

People apply to HCA from different backgrounds, with different levels of experience and at different points in their life.

If you feel like it would help to talk to one of the HCA team ahead of applying through UCAS, our Registry team can offer informal ‘advisory interviews’ to guide you. We also offer Personal Tours of the capmus and our workshops and studio spaces, and our Course Leads are happy to talk through their course with you if you have any questions.

If you are interested in any of the above, you can reach on 01432 802878, or e-mail  for more information and to book in a time.
