Karen started her Art & Design studies in Carmarthen. She then went on to specialise in textiles and attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design University of Dundee. After successfully completing a degree in Constructed Textiles, Karen graduated with a B Des Honours degree in 2000. Staying in Education, Karen worked as an artist in residences in many schools and community centres in Swindon and Cardiff and then went on to do a PGCE.
In 2005, she moved from the busy city centre of Cardiff to Hereford and began teaching part time on the Contact Course and supporting as a Teaching assistant on the 2nd year National Diploma course. In 2007, Karen took on a new challenge of developing and managing the Textiles Workshop at our College Road Campus as a Technical Demonstrator.
In her own practice Karen explores surface pattern through drawing, print, collage and CAD designing imagery that is based on nostalgia, memories and the everyday objects in her life that hold a sense of sentimentality. The designs are then turned into ceramic transfers to decorate the surfaces of their ceramic products.
