Last week the BA students were in Stratford Upon Avon for a production of Moliere’s C17th comedy – Tartuffe – a tale about a family hoodwinked by a religious charlatan. The RSC creative team led by BAFTA and Emmy-Award winning writers, Anil Gupta and Richard Pinto updated the play to a British Pakistani Muslim family living in Birmingham. As part of the day, students also took part in acting classes with RSC actors, exploring different methods of bringing the text alive. No sooner had the students returned to Hereford that they were off again for an overnight London trip to take part in a two day physical theatre masterclass with world renowned practitioner David Glass at Jackson’s Lane, as part of the London International Mime Festival. The trip included a whistle stop tour of London landmarks, a visit to the Tate Modern to catch an exhibition about performance artists such as Marina Abramovic as well as a physical theatre show – The Artist – a collaboration between Thomas Monckton and Circo Aereo at the Southbank Centre. Students even had time to catch a showing of Stan and Ollie in Leicester Square
