Summer Creative Workshops for 11-16 year olds!

23rd, 24th & 25th July 2019

These workshops are designed specifically for those who are attending high school, and love the arts. Whether it’s drawing, design, media or graphics, these workshops aim to provide a creative outlet for young people during the summer holidays.

Working alongside our expert teaching staff and accessing our specialist resources, each workshop provides an opportunity to learn new skills and make like-minded friends. Choose from an inspiring range of workshops on offer.

Tuesday 23 July

Learn to be a Potter  with Lucy Baxendale

Get messy with clay!  Be a potter for the day and learn the techniques and skills needed to design and create your very own piece of pottery.  Experiment with different applications and pick up professional tips.

The Magical World of Animation  with Nick Brown

Ever wondered how animated films are made? Take a peek at the magic behind films such as Chicken Run, Boxtrolls and Early Man in this fun, stop-motion animation 2-day workshop. You will Learn how to use professional animation equipment, write, storyboard and animate a short film, and finally create a sound track with sound effects! The finished films will be available to watch online via YouTube at the end of the workshop. *Please note that this is a two day workshop taking place on Tuesday 23rd July & Wednesday 24th July – students must book on to both days.

Film Making with Joel Munson

Make a film in a day! Working in teams, participants will work against the clock to plan, storyboard, shoot, act and edit their films (complete with sound effects and music) and by the end of the day their movie is complete! The finished films will be available to watch online via YouTube at the end of the workshop.

3D Workshop – Create and Make  with Ian Berrill

Get creative in the 3D workshop and make something amazing. This workshop combines all the elements of design, processing and making, using 21st Century technology.

Make Some Noise!  with Stevie Callender

This workshop will include song writing, playing, and performance. Play a range of instruments including guitar, drums, bass, keyboard/piano, vocals, and more. Writing your own music and perform covers of the songs you like.

Painting Fantasy Landscapes  with Letty Noonan

A twist on traditional landscape painting – explore the principles of mixing colours and the basics of a landscape image and styles before designing fantasy landscapes ranging from space to below the ocean!

Screen Printing onto Paper with Alison Sloggett-Earl

In this one day course you will get to print a multi-layer screen print using the paper stencil method. Play around with layering bold flat colours with designs cut into paper you will produce lots of colourful prints quickly, to take home at the end of the day.

If you love photography or want to find out more about how to make the best of your digital images – this is the workshop for you.  Our specialist tutors will be on hand to guide you through all the tricks of the trade so you can turn your images into great photographs!

Graphic Design  with Mitch Adams

An introduction into the world of branding through logo and packaging design. Brainstorm your ideas and create your own logo and packaging designs for a variety of pre-selected products. Using the Adobe Suite, see your ideas come to life!

Acting for Camera  with Mia Gordon

Ever wanted to know the tricks of the trade when acting for camera? This is a one-day introductory workshop in acting for camera. You will learn techniques and tips on how to maximise your performance on screen and learn how a television and film director will work with you.

Multi Block Lino Printing  with Alison Sloggett-Earl

In this one-day course get to grips with carving and printing a multi-colour lino. Lino is a print technique that can be as simple or as complicated as you like.  You will be using our quality cutting tools and printing on our presses so you will be sure of professional prints to take home.

Illustrate a Story  with Letty Noonan

Could you be the next Quentin Blake or Oliver Jeffers? If drawing is your thing, this fun and creative workshop is for you. Create images to tell a short story, start by planning and sketching and work towards a finished piece from a story that we will provide. This workshop is all about creating images that bring a story to life.
