“For me personally I’ve loved how much creative freedom this course offers. It’s like being part of a small theatre company for a year.”

– Tegan Askey, L4 Diploma in Professional Performance

This is a post A level foundation year for people who are serious about performing arts as a career. This course will give you the additional skills in voice, singing, dance and acting in order for you to enter the next stage of your career (be that dance or drama school, or a practical-based course at university, or even setting up your own business). You will get one-to-one audition support and mentoring, as well as the opportunity to test your practice in productions such as major staged plays, musicals, devised pieces as well as radio and film projects. You will also work with visiting industry professionals in order to gain further insight into the world into which you will enter.

Some of your projects and skills classes will be with our own BA Performing Arts students so you get a flavour of what university level study will be like. There is also the option to switch to our BA within the first 5 weeks of the course should you chose.

Students shared their auditions and self-tapes with a London agent for feedback and guidance. Students are currently working on a production of The Cherry Orchard with the degree students for performance at the Courtyard in the Spring. In the summer they will be staging their own self-directed performance at the Courtyard. In the first semester students worked on an original musical with the L4 Diploma music students which was recorded before lockdown and has gone viral on social media.

Students go to drama and dance schools as well as universities or straight into industry.

GCSE English & Maths 9-4 (A*- C). Level 3 full merit (extended diploma or equivalent), interview & audition.

The L4 course is fantastic. It gives you a great opportunity to continue doing the things you love with that foundation year until you decide where you are going.
