Please note: Enrolment for this course is for 2020 entry.
This course provides an introduction to music and the industry. It will provide those who are excited and motivated by music and performance with the first steps to explore, develop and demonstrate their skills.
You will be introduced to equipment and processes used in music, and the skills necessary to record and express ideas. You will be supported to develop an understanding of how research is used to support music based activities together with developing an understanding of the role that communication skills play in informing and developing ideas.
You will be given multiple opportunities to perform to live audiences within a collaborative band and if applicable as a soloist, developing new performance skills and knowledge that aim to support your progression to the next level.
Further to this you will be given expert tuition on song writing, musicianship and developing as a performer whilst gaining a foundational knowledge of the industry to inform your own musical production.

English and maths are an integral part of the course. Students who do not yet have the necessary grades (grade 4 / C or above) will get additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or functional skills qualifications depending on prior GCSE grades.
This broad experience of music will prepare you for progression onto our Level 2 Diploma in music.
Minimum of 2 GCSEs Grade 9-2 (A*-F). It is also highly desirable that you achieve a Grade 3/D or above in English and/or maths, audition & interview.
