with John Sanders

Using a variety of yarns and materials combined with a range of machine knitting techniques, through this short course you will develop a series of knitted samples that will explore texture, colour and finish.

You will learn how a single bed knitting machine works along with beginners knit skills such as casting on, casting off, tuck stitch, fringing, jersey knit, stripes, and ripple stitch. Each week will cover 1-2 techniques to ensure each technique and process is covered in better detail.

During this short course you will learn about yarn qualities and suitability of yarns for knitting on domestic machines.

There will also be the opportunity to explore double bed knitting for those interested.

No previous Knit experience is required. Please feel free to bring some reference material/inspiration images from which you might like to work.

All yarns/tools/knitting machines will be provided. If there are particular yarns that you have and want to explore,  please feel free to bring them along, however please note some yarns will not be suitable for our machines.
