Creative Summer Workshops for Years 7 to 9

These workshops are designed specifically for those who are attending high school, and love the arts. Whether it’s painting and drawing, design, media, music or performing arts, these workshops aim to provide a creative outlet for young people during the summer holidays. Working alongside our expert teaching staff and accessing our specialist resources: each workshop provides an opportunity to learn new skills and make like-minded friends.

Tuesday 3rd August – For those in years 7 to 9

Customise your Old Clothes 

  • Transform your old clothes and give them a second life on this workshop! You will be using a huge variety of materials and accessories, such as patches, sequins, fabric paint, and felt to revamp some of your clothes you don’t wear anymore. You will also learn the art of sublimation printing: how to transfer images onto a t-shirt (provided)! Please bring up to 3 items clothing you would like to work on.

Graphic Design

  • An introduction into the world of Graphic Design through logo, fashion and branding design. You will have two briefs to choose from, each will take you through the process of generating initial ideas, developing them into eye-catching designs and then how to present them to a client. This is a great introduction to the Adobe Creative Suite and a way to kickstart your creative journey by building confidence and learning to turn ideas into professional looking designs.

Drawing & Painting Character Creations

  • Explore the art of Pre-Production by designing your own unique character. Using drawing and painting, and your imagination to build your character’s story, surroundings and appearance. Are they human? Are they an animal? Or perhaps something entirely different! It’s up to you as we take an in-depth look at creating strong characters, so that you can begin their story.

Wednesday 4th August – For those in years 7 to 9

Graphic Design

  • An introduction into the world of Graphic Design through logo, fashion and branding design. You will have two briefs to choose from, each will take you through the process of generating initial ideas, developing them into eye-catching designs and then how to present them to a client. This is a great introduction to the Adobe Creative Suite and a way to kickstart your creative journey by building confidence and learning to turn ideas into professional looking designs.

Playing with Paper

  • You will experiment in paper with shapes, textures and colour to make your own collage art. Have fun whilst creating celebrity portraits, creatures from another planet and movie posters using magazine cuttings and a vast assortment of different papers. You will also try marbelling your own card sets!

Learn to be a Sculptor

  • Get messy with clay!  Learn the techniques and skills needed to design and create your very own piece of ceramic sculpture. Experiment with different hand-building techniques and pick up professional tips. 

Digital Photography  

  • If you love photography or want to find out more about how to make the best of your digital images – this is the workshop for you.  Our specialist tutors will be on hand to guide you through all the tricks of the trade so you can turn your images into great photographs!

Thursday 5th August – For those in years 7 to 9

Learn to be a Sculptor

  • Get messy with clay!  Learn the techniques and skills needed to design and create your very own piece of ceramic sculpture. Experiment with different hand-building techniques and pick up professional tips.
