Welcome to the Schools section of our website.  

Hereford College of Arts has strong links with local and regional secondary schools in supporting the delivery of vocational and work-related creative learning opportunities for 14 - 16 year olds.

Due to the specialist nature of the College - the only specialist art, design, media and performing arts College in the West Midlands - we are able to offer a wealth of experience from our staff, the majority of whom are practicing artists, designers or performers in their own right.

 As well as our very popular Spring into Arts and Summer Arts Fest, and the Saturday Arts Club which is now in its third year, the College offers a wide range of other opportunities for both teachers and students.  Please browse the different areas down the right-hand column to view what we do in more detail.

Summer Arts Fest 2011

The All-New Summer Arts Fest was held during the first week of the Summer Holidays, 25^th - 29^th July.  Over 100 young people took part in an amazing creative arts, media, music and performing arts event - this year, for the first time in the Arts & Crafts school, students tried different workshops each day and had great fun learning new skills.

 Those taking part in Digital had a choice of either photography & film or graphics and animation.  The slightly bizarre but brilliant film and animation images were an outstanding success and enjoyed by all (particularly the out-takes)!   The stage and costume design workshop collaborated with the performing arts students to produce an amazing final show.  The music students, some of whom had performed together at Spring school, did an amazing gig and for many, the final show was the highlight of the week!

 Summer Arts Fest offers 4 categories:  Arts & Crafts, Digital, Rock & Pop and Showbiz. It is a unique opportunity to have a fantastic week, meet new friend and learn new skills.

Arts Workshops

Vocational arts workshops - we can create one or half-day workshops across a number of subject areas in art, design, media and performing arts, and deliver in your school.

Professional Development Workshops for Teachers

Specialised tutors and practitioners deliver a full programme of Continued Professional Development workshops as twilight sessions throughout the academic year - all teachers are welcome.

Teachers Forums

The Forum meetings offer a unique opportunity for teachers from across the County to meet and discuss issues affecting them and their students.

School Visits to Hereford College of Arts

We welcome visits by groups of students from Schools - whether it is two Students or 200!

Spring School for Years 9- 11 (Spring into Arts)

Spring School is an annual event held over the Spring half-term for years  9 - 11 pupils.  It is an exciting two-day art, design, media and performing arts experience.

Schools Expo

The annual Schools Expo is an exciting and stimulation exhibition showcasing students work from all Secondary Schools in Herefordshire held at Hereford College of Arts.

Community Projects

We aim to take the arts into other parts of the Community and have a robust programme of arts workshops in many areas of the County.
