Catherdal Visual Arts Project

We aim to take the arts into other parts of the Community and have a full programme of arts workshops in many areas of the County. This year we have held jewellery-making and mural-painting courses at the Stonebow Unit, as well as working with youth groups, working under the lifelong learning policy and with the extended families network, introducing twilight sessions and recreational arts activities in community centres and schools.

This year has also seen the College and Schools working closely with Hereford Cathedral on the prestigious Cathedral Close Arts Project. Tutors from HCA delivered six visual arts workshops at Hereford Cathedral in November 2009 - Medieval print, Civil War costume & armour, 18th Century ceramic frieze, Victorian album, Living Memory screenprinting and Environmental photography.

A highly successful exhibition of the work attracting an enormous number of visitors was held in Hereford Cathedral May 2010.

We are constantly seeking ways in which we can strengthen links and bring the performing, creative and media arts into the community and making them more accessible - in particular, we aim to continue to work on further projects with disadvantaged young people.

If you have any suggestions or ideas on how we can help promote the arts in your community, please email schools@hca.ac.uk.
