HE Fees and Bursaries
Fees, Loans, Grants & Bursaries
All new full-time students starting Higher Education courses (BA (Hons) & Foundation Degrees) at Hereford College of Arts from October 2009 will be eligible for the following:

UK & EU Fees - Undergraduate (BA (Hons) & FdAs)
As with the majority of universities and colleges, all full-time UK & EU Nationals students at Hereford College of Arts will pay a fee of £3,225 per year

International Fees

Loans - UK Students
UK students taking out a loan to cover their fees will not have to start repaying until after they graduate, and only once they are earning over £15,000 per year.

UK students will also be able to apply for a Student Loan for Maintenance (living costs whilst studying) which will be means-tested. This outstanding loan will be combined with the Fee loan into a single payment (see above)

UK students should apply to Student Finance Direct as early as possible for assessment, even if they are unsure of their final place. 

There will be no further fees or charges to pay apart from some specific costs for trips and additional materials used on the course.

Highed Education Maintenance Grants - UK Students
Higher Education Maintenance Grants are available for students from lower income households. This is a non-returnable grant worth up to £2,906 per year. In those cases where students are eligible for the full grant of £2,906 an additional £320 will be paid by the College

The Grant will be paid in three instalments at the start of each term which does not have to be paid back.

Other grants will also be available including Parents’ Learning Allowance, Childcare Grant, Adult Dependants’ Grant and Disabled Students’ Allowance







    Bursaries at Hereford College of Arts
    Every UK student will receive £540 as a cash payments in their first year of study, and £210 in each subsequent year direct from the College. This bursary is not means tested and does not affect students' eligibility for applying for mainenance grants or loans (see above). Every UK student who is means-tested as eligible to receive the full Higher Education Maintenance Grant of £2906 will also recieve £320 cash direct from the College.     Notes
    *All fees and bursaries quoted at current rates, which may be subject to inflationary increases or revision in subsequent years.
    *Bursary cash payments to students will be phased through that year of study.
    *Eligibility for loans and maintenance grants will be subject to conditions set by the Student Loans Company: e.g. maintenance grants will be means-tested, and loans may only be available to those undertaking a first undergraduate award.
    *Students who are already studying a course from which they will go on to a top-up BA (Hons) will not have to pay these fees, and will not be eligible for these bursaries. They will continue to pay the current fee (which will be £1225pa for 2007-8), but should be eligible for loans from the Student Loan Company.

    Part-time students
    Should apply to the College for details of fees that will be chargeable contact funding@hca.ac.uk .The help available if you are studying part time is set out below.

    A maximum fee grant and course grant of £1,470 is available. Part-time undergraduate students, who are studying at least 50% of an equivalent full-time course are eligible for help. Entitlement to the grants will depend on your income and that of your husband, wife or partner. Students who already have a degree cannot normally apply for this support. There is no age limit. There are three different rates of fee grant depending on how intensive your course is. You can get an application form here.
