Wheeled Sports

The Skate Park
Wheeled sports deserve a mention of their own as so many of our students participate with local clubs. In fact, some of our students have included facilities at Hereford Skate Park in their reasons to study at HCA! It's not surprising; the UK's Number 1 female skateboarder, Lucy Adams, has declared it one of the best in the country, and it welcomes people of all ages and abilities to skate and ride throughout the year.

Roller Derby
A number of our students and alumni play Roller Derby with Hereford Roller Girls. The team is all-female, but men and women can join to referee or become non-skating officials - and they have just started to recruit for a men's team too! Roller Derby is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, and HRG is ranked 85th in Europe aged just 3 years old! Their bouts are a great day out; not only is there the spectacle of the game, there are stalls, raffles and DJs offering the soundtrack!

Roller Skating
In addition to the Skate Park and HRG, Hereford is now home to a fantastic indoor skating and multi-purpose facility, The Core. As well as skating lessions, roller discos and sports like roller hockey, The Core offers Radio Controlled Model Car sessions, Laser Tag and more.

Discounted Gym Membership at thePoint4

thePoint4 is a social enterprise which is operated to generate income to the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC). We like it because not only is it right on the doorstep of the College Road Campus and just down the road from our Folly Lane Campus, but we know that every penny they make from their memberships and bookings is helping to provide opportunities for the visually impaired students at RNC.

Memberships at thePoint4 are available to all of our students at the discounted price of £25 per month. Included in this is access to the gym, group exercise classes and spa, and you'll also be able to take advantage of discounted prices for boot camps. There's a hydrotherapy pool, sports hall and outdoor astro pitch available to hire too, perfect for group activities.

If you want to join, visit thePoint4 Reception and complete a Membership Form. Please take your ID of your student status, to enable staff to apply your discount! The staff will also welcome any enquiries you may have, and they're always happy to show you round if you want to check out the facilities before you sign up.
