Paralympic Coin Design

Date: 14/11/2011

Success For BA (Hons) Graphic Design & Media student,Pippa Sanderson - During her final year studying a BA (Hons) Graphic & Media Design at Hereford College of Arts Pippa responded to a student design competition launched by the Royal Mint to find a commemorative design for a limited edition £5 coin. The competition was rolled out to students throughout the UK.

Before she graduated, Pippa found out she had been short-listed for the Paralympic design. The judging panel asked her to tweak the design and, with the support and feedback of her tutors, Pippa continued to refine her design which was eventually chosen as the official Paralympic Design. The College is incredibly proud of Pippa’s achievement. The commemorative coin will be unveiled and put into circulation on 14th November. The coins, the latest in a summer Olympic tradition dating back to the 1952 Helsinki Games, will go on sale later this month. See www.royalmint.com for more details
