Herefordshire Diamond County Awards – The Presentation

Regular blog followers will already have heard about Christian Vaughan Jones and James Osborne winning the competition to make the Herefordshire Diamond County awards this year. The awards were all finished, packed up and delivered several weeks ago and now is the time to see them presented.  It was all very top secret.  We were asked to laser cut the winners’ names, but be very careful about confidentiality and people finding out who had won in advance of the event, which made it much more dramatic and we really got what a big event these awards are to Herefordshire.

So, off we went to the Town Hall  to watch the presentations and then have official photographs taken and then off the Shire Hall for a formal dinner with the High Sheriff. The winners of the awards were Kingspan Insulation and Harrison Clark Rickerbys, and it was great to talk to them directly.  Both companies were very proud of their achievement and really liked the awards that they had been presented with.

Christian and James were really proud and we had a really interesting conversation about how strange it was when you have made an object and then see it in another context, to see the awards on the stage with everyone formally dressed, rather than in their workspaces or at the forge.
