Not long now until the final deadline for the 3rd year degree students…

This is just a sneak peek into the Small Metals workshop and a preview of what we can expect to see in a couple of weeks time at the shows.

The above image is a piece of Jade Stimpson’s work (Jewellery Design). She fabricates her silver settings that enclose a range of found objects whilst utilising techniques such as flocking.

Mel Morgan (Jewellery Design) combines skilled enamel techniques with intricate silver detail fixed in place with solder and tiny rivets.

The image below shows the reverse side of the brooch with a beautiful double pin back.

Nicki Lillie (Contemporary Design Crafts) continues to produce her beautiful structural brooches; the above image shows a detail of one of her later pieces consisting of a double layer of silver and gold leaf.

Hannah04.jpg

Hannah Bowen (Contemporary Design Crafts) has mixed silver and wood veneer to produce earrings that combine simple shapes that give striking results.

Beatrice Wall (Contemporary Design Crafts) hand cuts the intricate bodies of her beetles which she then enamels and finally adds animal fur to.

Ann07.jpg

Ann Beardwood (Jewellery Design) has made her own glass inclusions which she then sets in silver to produce her striking rings.

Really looking forward to seeing the different bodies of work come together and finished results in the forthcoming Summer Show!
