Actually, for HCA students, it began at 7am on the morning of the 4th – when they boarded the train for London – and didn’t finish until 7pm the following evening – that’s a 36 hour “day” and a real test of both endurance and creativity.

Working collaboratively, through the night, with approximately 40 students from different UK arts, design and communication colleges to explore the conference themes of ‘Local, National, Global’; our students really rose to the challenge of responding to the themes and creating really interesting work with students they’d never met before while suffering from extreme sleep deprivation and fueled by Red Bull!

The workshops were designed to really challenge and inspire students from very different disciplines and diverse backgrounds, to explore collaboration and to celebrate the importance of creative practice in the UK. James Reid and Jackie Morris from BA (Hons) Fine Art, Annie Roseveare from BA (Hons) Contemporary Design Crafts and Joe Downes from BA (Hons) Illustration joined me (I was one of the facilitating tutors at the workshop) to travel to London for this event.
