Proving that creativity happens in so many different ways at the College, the Short Course Programme joined forces with local business The Great British Florist today to kick start advent with a wreath making masterclass!

The award winning local florist prides itself on flowers that are grown not flown so you always know that what you receive will be British and as much as possible local to Herefordshire. Famous locally for their flair, love of wild flowers and natural approach it is no surprise they are fresh from winning The 2016 Wedding Industry Awards West Midlands – Wedding Florist of the Year.

Equally, The Great British Florist is a huge supporter of the importance of creativity, recognising the value  the arts can bring to business when they decided to employ a HCA Film & Photography graduate to assist with the visual side of their business. Many of the films and images they use to promote themselves are able to be produced in-house!

Today’s masterclass centred round that all important Christmas wreath to adorn the front door and welcome visitors over the festive period.

Jan the Flower, as she is known, delighted a small group with her stories as much as her knowledge and enthusiasm. Guiding those who attended step by step through the process, from soaking their oasis correctly, to building a base before adorning their wreath with Christmas favourites which included pine cones, holly, ivy and misletoe.

Everyone seemed happy as they left, satisfied that a morning had been well spent with new skills learnt and a job well done!
