Functional Skills - Maths

For students starting at Hereford College of Arts with GCSE grade E or below in maths

Maths Functional Skills qualifications help students develop confidence in practical areas such as money, time, organising information and measurements.

  • Representing using mathematics
  • Analysing situations mathematically
  • Interpreting solutions to problems using mathematics
  • Coverage of mathematical content in number, geometry and statistics

GCSE Maths

For students starting at Hereford College of Arts with GCSE grade D in maths.

Mathematics encourages students to develop confidence and to recognise the importance of
mathematics in their own lives and to society. This qualification prepares students to make informed decisions about the use of technology, the management of money, further learning opportunities and career choices.
Students will:
  • Develop knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts, including:
– Number
– Algebra
– Geometry
– Measures
– Statistics
– Probability

  • Use their knowledge and understanding to make connections between mathematical concepts

  • Apply the functional elements of mathematics in everyday and real-life situations, including problem-solving.
