Lisa Porch

I am a practising textile artist as well as having the privilege of teaching within Further and Higher Education. I have taught in this sector for the past 23 years, delivering lectures, seminars, supervising and providing tutorial support for both written and practical research and creative art, design and craft projects. I have a MA in Post-Compulsory Education.

I have always had a passion for underpinning creative practice with theory and this manifests itself in my own work and also in my approach to teaching. The ambition to extend confidence in working conceptually and using research methodologies with relevance in creative practice has a particular resonance to my role as a maker and tutor.

As a practising maker I belong to an exhibiting group called Fibre Art Wales. I am the secretary of the group and have been a member for 12 years. I am part of the Exhibition planning and organising team working with various Arts institutions and Museums. As a member of the group I am involved in producing and exhibiting textile pieces for gallery exhibitions and touring shows.

I teach textile and stitch workshops, give artist talks, undertake artist in residence opportunities exhibit in group and solo shows in the UK and US. I have a research interest in Eisteddfod Purses working in conjunction with the National Museum of Wales, St Fagans.
