Alan has been mad for drawing since he was a boy. He liked it SO much that he completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting and a Masters degree in Art & Design at Grays School of Art in (his hometown) Aberdeen, before he came to Hereford College of Arts in 2003 as an Artist in Residence. He liked the idea of passing on his knowledge and skills and so did a PGCE and started lecturing at HCA. Alan was still loving the drawing and painting but wanted to make his images ‘move’ so he decided to do another degree, this time in Graphic & Media Arts here at HCA which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Alan is a freelance Artist and works from his studio at home in the leafy city of Hereford as well as teaching on our Foundation course. When not drawing & painting, working on commissions or exhibiting nationally and internationally, he likes long distance running, boxing, pop music and wearing unusual trainers.
