HCA Music Week 2018

Hereford College of Arts announces its annual Music Week event

Hereford College of Arts has announced its annual HCA Music Week event, which will run from 5 – 9 March 2018. HCA Music Week is a five day programme full of opportunities for students to engage with visiting experts who are actively working in the music industry, and to perform their own live gigs at venues around Hereford.

This year, the headline guest will be experienced session vocalist and voice coach, David Combes. Over his diverse career, David has built a strong reputation on the London session singing circuit working with celebrated performers including Beyoncé, Elton John, Lionel Richie, and Kylie Minogue, as well as working on a number of television shows such as X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Other guest speakers and artists taking part in this year’s Music Week are drawn from across the musical spectrum and include: Andrew Marston, presenter of BBC Hereford and Worcester Introducing; trumpeter Bryan Corbett, who has performed with artists including The Brand New Heavies, Alesha Dixon, and Tony Christie; and commercial composer Peter Darling.

As part of Music Week, there will be a performance by local original jazz-funk band the KoGo Project on Thursday 8 March at De Koffie Pot, and HCA students will be performing their own mixed set of covers on Friday 9 March at 7.30pm in the HCA Café at College Road campus – entry on the door is £3 and everyone will be welcome.

David Bebbington, Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Popular Music Course said, “Not only is it an exciting opportunity for students to develop musically, it is also a fantastic networking event to get involved in – something we encourage students to do throughout their degree studies here.”

Owain Langton, 2nd Year Popular Music student said “Learning from musicians who are working in the music industry really inspired me to achieve my music goals last year, and I am looking forward to another inspirational week.”

HCA Music Week 2018 will run from 5 – 9 March. For information and all other details, please contact David Bebbington at d.bebbington@hca.ac.uk
